Cinnamon Pineapple & Freshly-Cut Watermelon

Growing up, I never really had the traditional ‘dessert’ after dinner. My mom would always cut up some fresh fruit and that would suffice as our after dinner treat. I’ve never been a fan of sweets - even when we would go Trick or Treating as kids, I would never eat the candy. I would give it all to my brother. I just went for the experience and because I had loved to dress up.

Now that I’m an adult, I still find that I will always prefer a fruit dessert over a cake one. Elan LOVES fruit too but he absolutely loves his cakes and sweets.

This summer, we ate tons of watermelon and also made one of my favorite dishes: Brazilian inspired Cinnamon Pineapple.

This dish is truly so easy to make: you cut up a pineapple into slices, sprinkle some cinnamon on top and grill on the BBQ for a few minutes. Absolutely delicious and perfect for me!

We did do some quick research to find out the benefits of pineapple, watermelon and cinnamon. I was amazed to see how incredibly healthy CINNAMON is for you! We are going to make a point to include it in more recipes and dishes.
